Since you are only using your site’s URL as anchor text, you are not spoon feeding the search engines the topic of your website. Therefore, you should use this technique only on extremely relevant web pages that link to your site.

Get your mini ad spot

I have been stumbling on Joomla sites with “Get your mini ad spot” pixel image link ads. I am amazed that there still are people willing to buy into the old small image ad scam. I guess since many text link ad buyers are page rank obsessed, it only makes sense that those same link buyers would jump on the mini image link ad dream and waste their money.

J.C. Penny SEO Rocks Google

After all the propaganda spewed by Google over the last 5 years telling webmasters that only relevant natural links will help their search results, J.C. Penny’s steam pile of crap off topic links says otherwise. Sure J.C. Penny suffered public humiliation, but even bad press is good press. Also, how hip is it that stodgy old J.C. Penny went ghetto SEO? To top it off, they received months and months of top rankings for BIG MONEY keyword phrases straight through the holidays making them millions in additional revenue.

Buying Links in Bulk

If you search the web enough you will find people selling massive amounts of text links very cheap. Recently I saw an ad for 5,000 links for $50. I have experimented buying link packages like this on throwaway websites just to see if there is any positive benefit. The conclusion I came to over and over is that you will get short term benefit, until you get called out by a competitor. If your real links to bulk paid links are severely out of balance your ranking will eventually fall, I would suspect this would be for an over optimization keyword penalty.
