10 Keys to Success – Selling Text Links

Over the years I have found that Link Sellers are extremely careless about how they sell links. Their carelessness results in less revenue because they end up selling worthless links at a low cost. I get it, you want to sell links and finally make real dollars on your website.

Most everyone with a website is out to make at least some money and selling text links is a great way to monetize your site if you do it properly.

Here are the keys to Link Selling success:

1. Be paranoid of window shoppers.
2. Don’t sell too many links on your website (6 links max). Sell fewer links at higher prices.
3. Only sell to advertisers with quality websites.
4. Keep paid links somewhat relevant.
5. Format the links nicely to make sure they don’t stick out like a sore thumb.
6. Offer long term discounts if possible. Stability of your advertisers is a very good thing.
7. Keep your site active. Once you start making $500 a month, don’t just enjoy the link money and let the site go stale. Links are just one way to make money, keep all options open and the search engines happy. Feed the beast!
8. Be very careful when someone contacts you from a free email account asking for link prices. Ask them that they send an email from the URL they need links for or at least a URL from a legitimate website. This will weed out window shoppers and troublemakers.
9. If your site goes down, let your advertisers know before they notify you. Be honest with them. If your site is down for a week and you are up front about it, you will build long term relationships with your advertisers.
10. Control your link selling greed.
